Joshua Scott appears as your average dad; a father of two children and divorced with no hope of ever pleasing his ex-wife.

 

What you don't see is he was part of an elite task force, put in place to help control and police the Meta-Beings that were beginning to overpopulate the Earth.  Having had the job take it's toll on Joshua, he endeavored to leave the job "you can't leave."

Now Joshua finds himself with new employment, and on his own terms: an assassin with a specialization in the elimination of the Meta-Being population.  To his kids however, he's still just dad.
